This white convertible was purchased by us in approximately 1984 and has been garaged since. It is a "49 State" car never having CA smog Air Injection Reaction system (AIR). It has always been registered in CA, so it must have been special ordered into CA. It has the stock black lic. plate. It has been repainted with white enamel prior to our buying it The car is not driven regularly and stored in a garage since we bought it. It was mechanically rebuilt by local qualified technitions. I purchased it from a local owner who was supposed to be the original owner. The motor is original except the previous owner installed an aluminum intake after having it rebuilt but the original intake was sold with the car. I never installed it. All the original sheilding is there. I am sure the water pump and starter and radiator are not original, but are in good condition. The original Holley 3370A carb (date in Dec. '65) also came with the car, but it is in need of a total restoration rebuild. The car has a holley not correct for it on the alu intake and it tends to leak around the seals. The engine pad stamp has "IL" designation and the same vin as the transmission. The close ratio 4-spd was rebuilt as the clutch was restored. The 4 spd. shifter works very well. The rear end numbers indicate the correct date and 3.70 gear ratio. The car is a stock power brake car with a Stainless Steel Brake restoration of the master cyl. The car has late '80's nice quality knock off wheels. I have the original steel wheels with 5 original hubcaps. The body is fair and does need to have various issues restored. I assume the proper course would be a complete strip down to completey restore the fiberglass which is something I was never going to be able to do myself or afford to have done. The car has a standard black interior with new Al Knock door panels. I have a new Al Knock carpet kit and soft top I have not installed. The exhuast was replaced with stock GM throughout. The build date of the motor and car is between Jan. '66 and Feb. '66 so it is a mid year '66. The stock steering wheel is in very good condition. The stock am/fm radio turns on, but I can't get much of a signal strength. the electric antenna works fine. The headlight switch that rolls the buckets up sometimes does not work. I am in the process of replacing the brake calipers with stainless sleeved calipers. The front are done, still need the rear replaced. I give the car an overall condition of a 3 since the body is probably a 4 needing restoration but the drivetrain is very nice looking and all there so the average rating of a 3. You'll have to judge for yourself. Call Joe for any information after 12:00 Noon daily PST (805)965-4026
