Only 3.5 percent of the 31,084 Corvettes produced that year were Nassau Blue. Two hundred-eighty-four (284) of these 31,084, or .91 %, were ordered with the R8C Option (called the Corvette Museum Delivery Program), which resulted in the car being displayed at the Corvette Museum prior to its delivery to the new owner. The program was only in its second year at that time, with only seven 1997 Corvettes produced the previous year with the R8C option. Only 140 of the 284 1998 Corvettes ordered with the R8C option still exist today, becoming more RARE as time passes and the cars are no longer in operation for whatever reason.
