1960 Corvette C1

The 1960 Corvette was largely unchanged compared to the 1959 model; the biggest update was six new colors including Cascade Green. Aluminum radiators came with the 270 hp (RPO 469C, $182.95) and 290 (RPO 579D, $484.20) hp engines.

An annual production milestone was achieved with over 10,000 Corvettes (10,261 to be exact @ $3872.00) produced for 1960. This was important as the St. Louis MO plant where the Corvette was made was designed for an annual production of 10,000.

For 1960, the Fuel Injected engine continued it's reign as the top horsepower option. Two versions were available, rated at 250 HP (RPO 579; $484.20) and 290 HP (RPO 579D; $484.20). 859 (just over 8%) of both versions were part of the 1960 Corvette production.

Two other high performance engines, both dual carburetor 4 bbl. units, were on the option list: A 245 HP (RPO 469; $150.65) and a 270 HP (RPO 469C; $182.95).
